Why Aston's AMR23 is NOT a Clone

????

Aston Martin's AMR23 has been claimed to be a simple Red Bull RB19 clone - but if you take a closer look at the car, it's abundantly clear that's not the case. From its aero designs to its suspension, its engine/power unit and even the rear wing, there are many differences between the cars, as Jon Noble digs deeper to find out. 0:00 More than a Clone 0:26 Sidepods & Slidepods 1:13 Engine Covers 1:30 DNA & Rear Suspension 2:31 Front Suspension 3:59 Rear Wings #f1 #astonmartin #amr23 FOLLOW us online: Website: https://www.autosport.com/ Facebook: http://facebook.com/AUTOSPORT Twitter: https://twitter.com/autosport Instagram: http://instagram.com/autosport Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, and subscribe!

Great analysis. Sir you just gained a new subscriber. Thank you.
@Dean0017 Says:
This questioning only exists because of Christian Horner's comments. Certainly idiotic

Aston did clearly the right thing. They realized early last year that their concept with the new rules wasn't the right one and they decided to switch to the Red Bull concept. Mid year they released a car that was very close to the Red Bull, but it was still shit (they finished 7th after all), although it got better towards the end. That clearly shows they weren't ready to race that concept at the start, but they learned and improved. They've had half a season to learn and build a better one over the winter. Still using the Red Bull concept, but it is less a copy than last year. It's more their own iteration of that concept. With the low finish in 2022 they have extra development time, placing them in a position to really develop the concept now. It looks like they really put themselves in a good position for the next few years if this concept is the way to go, like they are at least 6 to 12 months ahead of anybody else, except Red Bull themselves on this concept.

Red bull had more time and money then anyone to headstart the New regulations so what Aston Martin did was copy the external aero design so who is the worst Cheater ???

The whole clone issue started last year when Aston Martin changed their bodywork to a clearly Red Bull inspired layout but missing time and money to make it work. Now with this years tweeks it looks less like the Red Bull but it works very well with the Mercedes components . Still to reallybe on level with Red Bull and Mercedes they'll have to produce their own gearbox and rear suspension components.

Only sour Merc fans whine about it. Alonso + Ex RB chief of aero gets them going. Theres not a panel on that car that even resembles the RB. The suspensions are completely different, sidepods, nose cone, diffuser everything is pure AM.
@adrianhjordan1981 Says:
Anyone with, erm, eyes, can see that it's not a clone. It looks distinctly different from Red Bull, or any other car in many, many places.
@rolandotillit2867 Says:
The biggest area where AM and Red Bull are similar is how the sidepod undercut blends into the edge wing area. They use the sidepod to restrict airflow from going inboard of the rear wheel, and instead use the downsloping roof of the sidepod to feed clean air inboard of the tires. This raises the pressure over the edge wing, increasing the pressure differential under the edge wing, and as a result the strengthening the edge wing vortex. The edge wing vortex then adds momentum to the air under the car which in turn lowers the pressure and energizes the diffuser vortex further.

The Aston to me has red bull ideas but has a different approach to their idea

Why Aston Martin is not a Red Bull clone... front suspension: Imma only gone talk bout Red Bull
@ramontas-b5r Says:
It's a plane...No..It's Sub Clone!😁🤣
@Jay-nk6dm Says:
The only people in the paddock calling it a redbull clone are redbull themselves lmfao, which it isnt. i wish the media and fans treated redbull with the same skepticism and vile they treat other teams with. 4:19 a smaller wing actually has the opposite effect, it actually minimizes the DRS boost since the effect of the wing is smaller. redbull has obviously found something with their drs and car package, but thats not a "Drs boost" that is attributable just to rear wing design.
@cosmostrek2001 Says:
It is a second rate copy of the Red Bull. Taken from the Red Bull staff the hired. They know a good car when they steal it.
@jamdc2000 Says:
cant wait for both RB dnf and an AMartin win
@ghurghust Says:
definitely...
