1. Gotta be Rassie. None of the mentioned coaches in the clip had less than 2 years to turn a side around to then go on to win a RWC. All the mentioned coaches had 4+ years. (If Wales, England or Australia go on to win 2023, they would take over 1st spot -since they have even less time.) 2-9. The other RWC winning coaches are all No. 2 -because they're *all* winners. 10. As much as I like Eddie Jones, he can (objectively) only occupy the 10th place -since he hadn't won it as the coach of the team.

The answer is Wayne Smith, Assistant for the All Blacks in 2011 and 2015, headcoach for the Blacks Ferns last year. He's the common element in their success, left the AB's in 2017 and I feel like that's a big reason for the failed 2019 RWC campaign. He's a innovator, he's what made Graham Henry and Steve Hansen look so good as headcoaches.

Rod McQueen. In Rugby the coach's job is to arm players with a realistic self-belief to take their part in a cohesive Rugby team that totally understands everyone else's capacity. The next level is if he additionally infuses them with a love and understanding for the Laws so they use them fully to their advantage, so the Ref is 'on their side', and they don't waste energy complaining about the officiating. Rod McQueen for me was the closest to being called the greatest. His ego had zero part to play in his team's successes, because he embodied the understanding that it was the players who scored the points, made the tackles, covered the gaps, dug deeper for their mates, maybe for their captain, but the whole was made bigger than the sum of its component parts. Rod's left-field capacity to identify and reapply talent makes him the standout. Nobody as a kicker? Bernie was an unknown local. A lippy, shaven-headed, ex-Northern Rhodesian Shona, in love with beauty products was a Wallaby halfback? In Australia his Rugby nous would identify him as a radical and dangerous and he still managed to deflect that. Eddie, (thumbnail) won't feature in the top 20. Rod could coach the Brave Blossoms to embarrass any other team, maybe move them into the top five to stay, using the same principles.
