Perez can win more races but not enough to beat max
@PaddyMcMe Says:
I hate that it requires these kinds of achievements for people to acknowledge just how incredible Alonso is. As great as Hamilton is, I sincerely believe if you put Alonso in Ham's Merc he would've ended up with the same number, if not more Championships. Because Alonso isn't letting Rosberg get to him mentally. That said, I don't believe Alonso would've been able to beat Max in 2021, and yeah I know, TECHNICALLY Hamilton didn't either, but anybody who is reasonable knows that was a shameful embarrassment and Hamilton was robbed by Masi. Masi made Balestre's (FIA President) behaviour back in 1989 look like the lesser of two evils. Not someone you want to be compared to let alone outdo.
@ralphe5842 Says:
No Alonso wasn’t going to win as, yes they made a mistake, but max was ahead and unless the pits made a mistake or max did there wasn’t a chance to pass and the barriers were touchable to a point. Checo is never going to get the championship against max he’s a good driver in a great car where max is a fantastic driver in a great car.
@jameslawson7225 Says:
Come on people... it don't have enough words to describe the level Max is on right now!!! The untouchable Max, the Master of the tires... he is showing us how great he is!!! Alonso the legend did an excellent job on the track and Ocon too... I have love and respect for Checo, but he really needs to step up his game... because Alonso is just a few points away from him... it's not looking good. What could I say about Ferrari...🤔 Ferrari will always be Ferrari...😩 For me I enjoy this race to the fullest!!!💯🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯🔥💯🔥
@adrianmist6681 Says:
But you haven't addressed the elephant in the room! This race has proved once again that Monaco does rarely provide a good race, even the rain didn't manage to change the running order. To say that Max dominated the race is a travesty, he was on pole and that is where, more than at any other circuit, the race was won.
@ierbutza21 Says:
Even you guys at AutoSport know a B grade driver rarely wins the whole thing,the ones backing Perez dont know how F1 works,you can say whatever about the car but at the end of the day the driver matters & Perez was never anithing than a B grade or 2nd driver,reason as to why Stroll is holding back Aston from securing 2nd .Trash drivers acting as if they belong in the top tier with Max Alonso Hamilton(maybe Leclerc + Russel + Lando).
@Dani-it5sy Says:
The Perez thing is the woke society we have living besides us. Perez is such a nice guy.😍 Suddenly he is a title contender and I am very mean if I think that's funny. Maybe I should even be arrested or get a fine. And they are like: He has developed. Come on guys. Perez is a veteran. Seriously. And yes he had some impressive races. But I think it's quite clear he is not one of the greats. And they only made it more difficult for Perez to impress. They say to everyone that he is championship material. So now it is 100% sure he will disappoint this season 😆 Unless Max breaks a leg and is out for 5-6 races. I hope for Perez that he can keep Alonso behind him. He is for sure lucky that both Ferrari and Mercedes don't have their act together.
@Dani-it5sy Says:
Maybe.. I believe Alonso stopped before Max right? Now if we assume Alonso really is the mastermind... Could he have tried to trick Max in to going for slicks? Or at least confuse them? If they knew they could safely pit one more time without loosing possitions? 🧐
@reedharper7013 Says:
AMR pitting first wasn't the best move as max had a 10 sec advantage BUT, I don't understand why pit anyways because they weren't lapping anywhere near to Max anyways. I would have rathered seen what Leclerc would have done had he not been stuck behind Ocon who was 1.5secs slower than Max. Basically saying Alonso never had a chance for the win....he wasn't fast enough anyways.
@TL-xw6fh Says:
To be perfectly honest, once we take away Alonso's fight with Verstappen, this is a truly boring race. Nothing happened until the rain came down. Monaco should be scrapped from the F1 calendar. The cars are simply way too big for such a narrow circuit.
@PbPomper Says:
I think Perez put himself under a lot of pressure to compete with Max. He has to overdrive to be able to even have a small chance. Max is a robot. Immediately quick and extremely consistent.
@Dean0017 Says:
I used to cut Max down in the early years, but not anymore. This guy has evolved into an incredible driver.
@colpul2103 Says:
Lance is not 'a very good motor racing driver'. He is not a top-team-2nd driver quality driver, he is not a top tier midfield driver, he's not even an average F1 caliber driver. Not saying he's the worst driver every or that he doesn't meet F1 minimum quality of skill and talent. *Lance Stroll is lower mid-field quality racing driver.* And, at this stage in his career there is not a ton of room for growth; he has reached pretty much his potential. This is prime Stroll at his career peak. He's a Magnussen/Hulkenberg quality driver not a Bottas/Seinz/Checo level driver. Stroll can have his moments, but they are few, far between, and require a good deal of other's bad luck. Merc is getting quicker, I do not see Aston's one point constructors lead lasting another race. I could see them fall to forth behind Ferrari if Lance does not pick up the pace. Him finishing 6-8th gives Aston enough points to hold 2-3rd as long as Fernando keeps standing on podiums but finishing out of points in a quarter of the races will not get that done. Honestly, put Bottas in that seat and Aston is as clear of 3rd place as Redbull is of 2nd place.
@cgf72 Says:
Its always hard. If Aston was conservative and just went Inter, people would have said; "well there was an additional pitstop gap and they had the opportunity to go aggressive, they're too conservative". Sainz meanwhile was begging Ferrari to be aggressive. I think we're looking for something to pick at. They rolled the dice on the rain holding up and lost nothing.
@bondardenys Says:
Does anyone know the song from which the intro was taken for the video? @Autosport?
@arjunkul Says:
Calling the Mercedes a “far, far inferior car” is stretching it a bit much. Yes, it’s not as good as the AM but can and has matched it on merit in both quali and race pace on different tracks. I have noticed how lately people tend to have very blizzard reactions toward Mercedes. For the last decade everyone was crying that they were too dominant. And now that they have slipped compared to some others they similarly chastise them like they’ve become a back marker. The fact is that next to RB they’re the strongest team operationally and have the best driver lineup on the grid, though currently saddled with a car that is off pace from RB. It’s lazy journalism when you have to rely on putting one team and driver on a pedestal while rubbishing others.
@rikusstoltz734 Says:
Verstappen running away. Best car + berst driver on the track = On the way to world champion. Perez I feel has had to give some of the best drives of his career just to get on even footing with Verstappen. He has managed well but I don';t think he will be able to consistently match Verstappen. Perez would be a great driver in most of the teams. He's done well at RB, but for sure he does not have the Senna class that separates the likes of Verstappen from the rest.
@rikusstoltz734 Says:
Strong drive by Alsonso created enough of a gap to cover the tyre mistake. Perhaps poor strategy by the team but they were able to benefit from a good drive and pace from Alonso that gave them the scope to manage such a blunder. ]
@rogerrms2180 Says:
Alonso gambled and lost nothing,so why not
@maplechill75 Says:
Stroll doesn’t belong on the grid. If he wasn’t driving for daddy he would be gone.
@chrisreadman4282 Says:
All we heard from stroll this weekend was. I have damage. He hit everything just one of them weekends where everything went wrong. One to forget. Spain I think he will be back in the top 8
@mrsensibletimewastingarrog4185 Says:
If he had have come in later he would have lost any advantage because he would be the same strategy as Max.
@esgy5614 Says:
How many 'could have and should haves' from Russell now? He was begging the team to let him pass Lewis. Why didn't he pressure him into a mistake, as he would have done to another driver. Only what matters is the final position after the chequered flag
@johanb.7869 Says:
Checo the so called master of the streets, was nothing more than a pupil yesterday. Yuki was hilarious again🤣
@ryaramaf1gobshite397 Says:
Are we going to get a vid of everyone’s underfloor with explanations of what & why everything is where it is & how it works with the top of the car???
@JordanHarris Says:
Why do so many pundits lie through their teeth when talking about Struluvitch? He's a bad driver. Just freaking say it.
@rottieshepcalibre9156 Says:
Banging on about max qualifier. It couldn’t have been that good. He only just beat Alonso and that red bull is super fast. I think checo would have beat him if he didn’t bin it so early on. Alonso lap should be praised. Mega lap that was. (not a fan of either)
@anubis1119 Says:
being an F1. I have been having a lot of wishful thinking lately. And nothing wakes me up harder like Red Bull does.
@samudrasyarif6828 Says:
Its was So Suprise Max Can Hold IN the Medium Tyres and can Win againt other Hard tyres another team. Dunno why Perez Change the Tyre in the Early pit strategies
@alessandraderango2766 Says:
Perez?just did his Perez's things....🤷🏻‍♀️
@hieuluu2 Says:
Mike Krack said the call to bring in Alonso was that the hard was falling apart, that's why AM didn't wait another lap. Will Buxton said when Alonso pitted, the gap was less then 7 seconds, when Alonso joined the track, the gap was 21 seconds. Will Buxton said Max actually lost 4 seconds and telling his pit wall "I have to drive slow, no grip", he lost a few more seconds when he hit the wall at Mirabeau. At this point, Max was 4 seconds slower then Stroll, whom was on Inters. Buxton believed that, had AM fitted Inters, with Max pitting, Alonso would had a 3-4 second lead on Max.
@hieuluu2 Says:
Checo, when he's on, he's on, but when he's off, it comes in abundance. He's got the exact same car as Max, and if he wants to fight for the Title, he needs to stopped making mistake. Every driver makes mistake, but with Checo, it's like a avalanche.
@Angry_Squirrel555 Says:
Monaco 2023 will go down in the F1 history books as one of Verstappen’s and Alonso’s greatest drives. It will definitely be in historic F1 documentaries.
@fillusrahim-xy9ib Says:
This shows that not the cars are good but the person driving it....intense and so persistent....well done Max....no doubt world champion quality.....and also Fernando Alonso
@calgar42k Says:
Alpine needs to stop screwing Gasly's tyres strategy, Miami and now Monaco they need to stop.... Rbr should have pitted Max at turn 53 when Mirabeau was fully wet...
@hassobasso7067 Says:
Fantastic
@TByrom Says:
Alonso was CORRECT to try the slicks. It’s the racer’s choice, the Senna choice, to put on RACING TIRES, not Inters. While others were cautious, Alonso made the racer’s choice, with enough time in hand to recover if needed. Which he did. So, Alonso was correct to prioritize racing over caution, imo.
@bertjilk3456 Says:
Thanks for a relatively objective summary that didn't just bang on about British drivers. It's also refreshing to hear someone call the Perez and Stroll situations for what they are. Perez has shown time and time again that he's too inconsistent to seriously challenge Max for a championship. Any objective review of the last two years will come to the same conclusion. And Stroll....well...
@ColdTakes585 Says:
George Russell is such a knob.
@rachelkoiks Says:
I’m amused by Max’s latest tyre-strategy trendsetting w/half the grid started on Hards-why?-Miami. He Uno reversed it with the Mediums today so maybe he inadvertently (again) brought equilibrium & options back to the starting tyre strategy. He really worked for it this weekend. Totally well deserved 👏🏻👏🏻 I think I was in literal *pain* seeing RB19 hoisted up high with her private parts out, live on international broadcast for the entire world to see, photograph, & analyze. I also literally put my hands in front of the screen in front of me over the undercarriage of the W14 like someone’s pants fell and I was like, “Oh no” 🫣 😂😂😂 Idk what’s wrong with me
@ajwasp3642 Says:
Max Backstabben
@ES-vt4zn Says:
Perez definitely had a terrible weekend, but if would have got stuck in P20 at Silverstone or COTA or any proper track really he could have made his way through the field to finish in the points, or high in the points.

@joostprins3381 Says:
Stroll and Perez had a game, who could be worse this race, it was Stroll who won, he made without excuses a worse qualification a dnf. As the only one….
@joostprins3381 Says:
If Max has a bad or off day he’s still 3rd or higher.
@vasilijestankovic123 Says:
Autosport you’re really stepping up. It was a period last year when I skipped your videos but the quality is there again. Keep up the great content!
@cousinwil5808 Says:
I think your point about Sergio is fair, particularly given that IF he were to be competitive with Max he would need to dominate the street circuits where he has taken it to Max previously. Losing 25 points on the streets bodes incredibly bad for him.
@sooperman12 Says:
Alonso radio revealed that his team felt it was best that he go on mediums based on their weather radar.
@likilikiki Says:
Alonso was surprised about the question because he lives in reality. And please stop calling Pérez a "tyre whisperer" because anyone can be that at the pace Pérez is driving.
