Rafa is a true hero of the world. “Losing is not my enemy. Fear of losing is my enemy.” You can’t win if you choose not to engage standing on sidewalks.

I am shocked that he won this match, but on other hand, congrats Rafa for winning.

! Tout ça est peu crédible. A voir pour la suite 🤨😉
@phantomaq Says:
De MInaur sends all his shots one meter or less from Nadal. He uses only 25% of the surface available to attack.

Even as an Australian I’m glad to see that Rafael Nadal is still fit and is still beating some of the best in the world. bravo 👏

@Joao-id4dn Says:
dont mean to diminish Nadal performance, but i think De MInaur was not really focused on winning
@rahulhhh15 Says:
Personally I think it's pretty clear Nadal has been avoiding going all out, doesn't want to be injured for RG/Rome. Once he won that set he upped his level a bit to finish it quickly, had he lost the tiebreaker I could see him dropping the second set.
@z1az285 Says:
he has a long way to reach peak level, but rafa showed exactly why his aura shines so brightly. he won crucial long rallies and his backhand made the difference today. plus he was fearless on big pounts. Sinner, Alcaraz, Tsitsipas, Djokovic, ruud are at a different level but if Rafa body holds up and he saves his best for roland Garros,look out. also i forgot to add zverev and Medvedev to the mix

It's iInteresting to compare this match with the previous one in Barcelona. In Barcelona, Rafa played well until the end of the first set. They were heading to a tiebreaker at 5-5, but then he seemed to lose his will to fight, and he threw it away in the last game. After that, he fell apart in the 2nd set, which he lost 1-6. Obviously that didn't happen in Madrid, where he stayed strong right through. Was he physically tired in Barcelona? Or mentally? De Minaur, in contrast, seemed more decisive and aggressive in Barcelona. In Madrid, he still played well most of the time, but seemed to lack the fire he showed in Barcelona. Maybe because Nadal annoyed him more with the high-bouncing short balls? De Minaur is shorter and lacks the power of other top players, which makes him less able to punish Nadal for those shots. Anyway, this is a nice step forward for Nadal, though I don't know if he's up to Alcaraz and Sinner's level yet.

When I think of every person asking Nadal to retire, the man haven't lost a Grand slam match in 2023 ! Its 2024 guys, he is still the GOAT

I have been saying for a long time Rafa is the favorite for Roland Garros. People called me crazy but look today. If from now till the end of Roland Garros he is spared from injury, he will win Roland Garros.

I love it. It’s crazy to me how much tennis media tries to hype the new generation compared to the old generation, which I understand is the right thing to do to maintain viewership/popularity of the sport, but man, big three were and are just on a totally different level. Tennis will never be the same after Rafa and Novak retire.

Rafa is a timeless legend of this sport. I started playing tennis inspired by his wins when I was 10/11 years old. My first memory og him is watching him win the gold medal in Beijing 2008, when I was only 6 years old. Now, I am 22 and he's gone through so many injuries and hard times, but seeing him try again, recover, and give the maximum to enjoy his favourite thing is once again something absolutely inspirational. He's a unique sportsman, one of a kind and seeing him smiling today after beating one of the top contenders for the Madrid tittle has been very special. In other circumstances it would have been an average win, but today's one tasted great, knowing what Rafa has been through in the last two years. Thank you again for making us enjoy your tennis, Rafa ❤️
