Halfway through F1's 2023 season, and Red Bull has taken the record for most consecutive wins, after winning every race so far this season. With McLaren potentially hot on their heels, Mercedes' mixed fortunes, an incident DNF-ing both Alpine cars and Ricciardo's return to F1, there's plenty to talk about, so Martyn Lee chats to Matt Kew straight from Hungary to discuss all these points and more. 0:00 Ricciardo's Return 3:26 Rocketship Red Bull 7:17 Mercedes' Mixed Bag 11:47 McLaren's 2023 Comeback #f1 #redbull #hungary FOLLOW us online: Website: https://www.autosport.com/ Facebook: http://facebook.com/AUTOSPORT Twitter: https://twitter.com/autosport Instagram: http://instagram.com/autosport Thanks for watching - please like, share and comment, and subscribe!

11:49 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Bruh, took me a second but I started *laughing!* That trophy was absolutely stunning & I thought it’s a top favorite of mine of all F1 trophies. It reminded me of Bohemian Austro-Hungarian jewelry, and I doubted whether it would be delicate porcelain or something a bit more robust like enameled base metal but.. 💔

@Quayleman Says:
They said they were turning the engine down during the race cause of temps. I'm guessing by the end of the race they turned it back up
@MCFoultier Says:
I dont think its that dominant. Its the fastest car, doesnt break down and the driver is on a consistency level we basically have never seen before. Hamilton had much more dominant cars. Red bull is maybe 2 or 3 tenths quicker, verstappen is just absolutely maximizing it with zero mistakes. Even in this race, what was easily the most dominant this year, 9 cars were in one lap in a race without safety car. The top 10 in quali were within 0,577s. For years, Hamilton had cars which were close to a second faster and could lap basically everyone but his teammates and the ferraris. Its not verstappens fault, that he is driving at a level we havent seen before. PS: just googled a randomn gp from 1988 (the year of the Former record). San marino. Double pole mclaren. The gap to 3rd place in pole was 3,3 seconds.

It's Max's seventh buddy. Not nineth
@camcambambam5128 Says:
The rb19 statistically isn’t the most dominate car. But what Max/Perez has done in the rb19 they made it the most dominate car
@joostprins3381 Says:
Max just went a few times off line just to let him being shaken awake by the pick up.
@joostprins3381 Says:
According to Ted it isn’t a record, because he decided it had to be in one season. No one knows where he got the idea, but his anti RB bias is really starting to get pathetic.
@KirkLazurus Says:
Stop with the 12 in a row BS. It has to happen in a season for it to count. All these records & streaks should ONLY be counted in season not carry over from last year, that being said Red Bull going to win at Spa by a huge margin.

Great show Guys! My new fav. F1 content. Great insights and REAl OWN OPINIONS…….@8:40 Obviously the Merc has a problem running with a lot of fuel, both LW and George had good laptimes when the car was lighter at the end of the race, and in qualfying in my opinion.

Great comment about the Mercedes F1 race engineers inability to find the sweet spot of their car & the fact they just crudely "chucked" downforce, by way of more wing etc, to their poor chassis designs for the last several years due to their vast engine superiority v the Red Bull's woeful Renault and early Honda power plants. It is actually far worse than that as perhaps even 4 WC's were won over what was, in all reality, a far superior Adrian Newey RB car /race team (just let down & compromised by v poor engines)! This lead to misplaced arrogance amongst the Mercedes engineering/management team - Time to have a meaningful root and branch clear out of Mercedes F1 (2024 has already been won by RB so there is plenty of time!) starting with Mercedes race engineers like Bono, who clearly are totally intellectually lost with the new regulations that RB have mastered/perfected for at least seven years - to be blunt they aren't bright enough to figure out what is happening until too late - Mercedes F1 are never coming back with their present team of race engineers /designers (Toto Wolf has to also seriously consider his own position as this downfall happened on his watch), unless they can revert back to power unit superiority in 2026 all is lost with the current regime - it is a shame a fit 'Niki Lauda' isn't around as he would have perhaps sorted matters out before they got to this state much in the same way Helmut Marko/Horner rule RB with an iron/silk fist - if Hamilton wants to win another title he needs to do something radical - the obvious is move to Ferrari but, just maybe re' join McLaren, after Norris has moved to RB, or even replace Alonso at Aston Martin - Honda will want a star name to go with their power plant! It just occurred to me that if RB had a decent engine before 2021, MV & RB would have won seven WC's by now & Max would be well on his way to shattering Schumacher's records - no wonder he regards Mercedes F1 & Hamilton with somewhat justified contempt…The only other argument is that Mercedes aren’t that bad but they are facing a once in a life genius which is the legend Adrian Newey with a superior great team lead by the equally wonderful Horner & Marko. We are witnessing true greatness, so sit back and relax and let Netflix spin some excitement and figure out who comes second!

Mclaren did it with Honda, Red Bull brokr the record with Honda. The absolute greatest name in motorsports history!! Ferrari or Porsche don't come close. Maybe Ford does But Honda is the absolute legend
@kuri911 Says:
Nobody seems to mention that both (consecutive wins) record breaking cars, the MP4/4 and the RB19, were powered by Honda power units. We often heard Honda mentioned during the GP2 engine days but they sure don't seem to get much mention when things are going well or even when records are being broken.
@fairygodbrother Says:
They change the regs to have a less dominant car and now we have the most dominant car in the history of f1. 😅

@steelssstu6515 Says:
What a boring two seasons F1 is now,sorry but everyone was moaning about Lewis and Mercedes winning everything and now it's even worse with only one car on the grid that works,for sure McLaren and Mercedes have improved but only Adrian Newey got it correct and that's no good for a sport on TV,very boring,over hyped and not worth the money to watch it live
@jonnyy1495 Says:
Boring snoozefest
@artistjoh Says:
In the Perez/Tsunoda/Ricciardo tussle it was Tsunoda who was the loser. Both Perez and Ricciardo did what they needed to do. On paper Tsunoda was better than his results, but people will only be seeing that he was behind Ricciardo in both qualifying and the race. Yuki needed de Vries to look good, but if he continues to fall behind Ricciardo he is the one who most needs to worry about his seat more so than Perez does.
@Jattie3434 Says:
McLaren said after the race Piastri had floor damage. That's why he struggled with pace and deg on his tyres.
@fillusrahim-xy9ib Says:
McLaren still studying their upgrade giving time they will be up there
@heads7982 Says:
Oh it's a masterclass when it's a white boy domination with no competition. Not even from his teammate. Racism can be Shameless most times. I guess they are stat padding Verstappen for the history books, to give the upcoming generation another fake myth, legends and fantasy story. "Oh yeah, our golden wonder kid from the Netherlands could really fly that thing". Indeed .🙄
@14489 Says:
1 driver has a way faster car breaks records, and his teammate isnt allowed to race him, same sh1t all over again... f1 is dead to me
@roy12525 Says:
The second guy sounds like he has been... Frostbit
@bertjilk3456 Says:
I was super impressed by Piastri's calm demeanour. It's so refreshing after years of squealing, crying little girls (Hamilton, Noris, Verstappen). Hoping he's fighting for wins and championships in the not-too-distant future.
@yyynajmi9217 Says:
Stroll is 1 lap behind max. And still got 1 points. Its incredible how far that rb19 and max is from anyone else. If the other team didnt ramp up their performance soon, everyone would be lapped by the end of the year except for the top 5.
@franknicholasdale4595 Says:
Interesting, yet there are ten teams and twenty drivers.
@onkelmarvin8360 Says:
01:50...................Tsunoda has NOT had an impressive season............quite the opposite !!!!!! He`s made 2 points in 11 races, that`s after two and a half seasons experience in that car. Nyck De Vries had no experience in that car, so if they fired HIM because of poor results...........Tsunoda should`ve been fired too........🤔🤔
@tomsilver8241 Says:
Of course the car advantage of fishfacemax makes his achievements worthless. F1 car racing F2 cars, anyone can do that. Of course next race you can be sure Paul Monkeyman the chief mechanic at red bull will alter Perez' car once again because as we all know Perez is not allowed 2 consecutive races without sabotage of some sort.

Mclarens Biggest Comeback in F1 > from p20/19 to P2/3/4 > thats MEGA take RB out, Lando would be Winning Like there is no tomorrow!
@bernardoberner4 Says:
Would be entertaining to see Max just do a last to first challenge at Spa. Imagine if he actually did it, it would be brilliant, like just sat in the garage watching qualy and then come race day goes from P20 to P1 in what 10 laps
@john-9074 Says:
Max is a legend. His wins are simply becoming a matter of fact and his feet are on the ground. Great to see Norris 2nd. Hamilton, we’ll what can you say. Couldn’t hold 1st place past first corner. Bit embarrassing really.

@gpaje Says:
Don't forget Yuki had a 7 second pit stop for some reason, likely would have finished close or ahead of Daniel otherwise.

I loved when Max's engineer checked in on the radio just to make sure it was still working since there was nothing else going on.

Hopefully checo gets good qualifying before summer break. Ferrari and Leclerc are just embarrassing sorry for their fans
