I am in Wales and following Louis Rees-Zammit (no relation), closely on his adventure with the Kansas City Chiefs, and I wish him and the KCC’s every success.
It is interesting how the commentators minutely examine every single facet of play from feet positioning to body angle and so on; they repeat and repeat again every motion.
I recall many years ago whilst in the British Army serving in Germany, we would play American Football with the yanks (albeit a very low level, and they play rugby with us.
It never ceased to amaze me how they would rejoice excitedly at achieving the simplest of things like catching a ball or crashing into an opponent. They would whoop and holler like there was not tomorrow. We would look on wondering why!
Comparison with rugby, where players are only lauded for the most skilful of achievements and action; probably British understatement. Also, American football stops after every play. It’s a game of stop-go-stop-go all game long. Whereas Rugby is non-stop action, even when the game breaks down it is physically demanding scrums and lines-out to restart – no rest for the committed.
The fitness demands are very different. Rugby non-stop physical confrontation for eighty minutes; NFL stretches the game out to about three hours with lots and lots of stoppages and team changes. Rugby has continuous high intensity action; NFL bursts of high intensity then rest, then bursts.
As much as I am enjoying the NFL Rugby is far more exciting a spectacle, probably because I understand it more.

Why?
I was fully EXPECTING Kansas City to win this like 49-14.
I was fully EXPECTING every highlight to be of either Patrick Mahomes or Travis Kelce.
I was very surprised the TV cameras didn't have like 50 views of Taylor Swift here (I'm guessing she did not attend this game?).
I'm also already assuming that Kansas City will win the Super Bowl, again, and that ALL the highlights will be about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, and possibly Mahomes..
