Hamels is a folk legend. 50 years later he will be asked about by kids who never got to see him. He defeated my 08 and 09 Dodgers. He threw a no hitter in his last Phillies game. THAT NEVER HAPPENS!! He was always clutch. He is my favorite modern pitcher. Damn he was great. Nearly 3K strikeouts. A WS MVP, NLCS MVP. Good lookin so cal dude who could have been a model instead of a sports athlete. Enjoy retirement Hollywood.

From a lifelong Cubs fan, congratulations on a great career to truly great and talented player!
@PhilliesNostalgia Says:
Definitely think that with his numbers, he should get into the Hall at some point. Probably ballot 5-7

Coming from a Braves fan I just want to say thank you Cole for everything you did for not only the Phillies organization but the league as well! Your impact on the game has helped shape the next generation of players that dream of making it to the big leagues one day! Your no hitter at Wrigley Field was awesome to watch!

Even scumbag YouTube with its 58 commercials during a 16-minute video couldn't ruin this tribute to Cole!

Poor Choli...looks hurting. Being from the city he's like everyone's grandfather. I can't express what it is like for that man to walk around the city. He could be in the worst part of the city & people would still come to shake his hand.
@philiphied Says:
What a great speech. Great player, always seemed like a great person. Under appreciated during his time, but will be beloved forever by the fanbase.

I always think of what it takes to be MLB starting pitcher, they are basically physical freaks of nature. Pitch a baseball a hundred times a game, at major league velocities, every 6 days, for 6 months and not have your body breakdown. And in Hamel’s case do it for 2700 innings over your career.
@natebrowne3438 Says:
My favorite pitcher growing up need to get me a jersey!!
@volodymyrzablotsky5372 Says:
Disgrace that the game was only on Apple TV. Ok to have it there for national audience, but local should still be on Comcast sports net
