Really hopeful of seeing more of Danns and Nyoni this coming season. Both of them have the talent to go right to the top. We just need to hope that they have the mentality to go with that talent.
I genuinely believe if Klopp had rode the Danns wave last season and gave him a run in the team while he was hot, we'd be sitting here talking about a £50/£60m talent right now. He was playing better than all of our other forwards at that time, finishing better, more composed and confident, so why didn't Klopp just give him a run? We wasted the next 20 games with Nunez missing 10 chances a game and being caught offside 20 times per game. I guarantee you Danns would have slotted away double the chances Nunez did. I feel like that never really happens these days. Managers never really give players under 18 a run, they prefer to "protect" them and take them back out. Look at Barca for example, they weren't afraid to give a chance to a 16 year old over Raphinha, and now he's lighting up the euros!
Gone are the days of youngsters like Owen, fowler etc coming through and being allowed a proper shot at it. Trent, Bajcetic and Bradley are probably the only recent examples, but those were all out of necessity first. When we're talking about forwards though, it just never happens at Liverpool anymore.
It's like the management team are scared to drop the senior forwarsa for a youngster for fear of a reaction.
Just imagine Michael Owen came through this day and age, given a couple games then put back in the youth team to "protect him" and not given a chance. Who knows if he'd have even had the career he did. We probably miss the boat on a lot of these young guys.
