Good talk. Sorry you live in a censored world. But I guess it’s the price you pay for working for American media these days.
Lot of personality talk.
It’s funny to me people say Tiger does not have personality. In some ways I get it but Tiger had so much personality he was able to be all cold and people still clamor to see him.
I don’t know why we have this woke revolution for women’s college basketball and specifically one woman who in the end couldn’t even beat a women’s college basketball team…but it feels like a 15 min thing that is on min 14 now. I been force fed some of her personality and game and I really don’t get it.
I do get Nelly …who unlike Scottie and cam young does have some personality. IMO. I like her attitude. I like the way she walks and talks like a boss. I like the sister connection. The family connection. The athleticism. IMO the US Solheim cup team finding ways to keep the kordas OFF the teams so many times is backfiring now. Nelly should and would be more familiar to the golfing public if she was in all the Cups she should have been in.
And of course GC/NBc giving the ladies like 42 min of coverage a week is not helping. It’s telling the audience some random senior tour or minor league golf is more important.
When people say the networks are dropping the ball, we mean it. They are dripping balls left and right. They think it’s still 1998 where they have this young tiger mesmerizing the world …and no real competition from other tours…so no need to make anything better.
Well here we are a quarter century later and all they know how to do is censor the talking heads from pointing out their negligence.
@sbMaine1881 Says:
Lav saying Nellys handers should change her was pure sexism. No need of that. Does Lav attack introverted male golfers?
@RobertSullivan1974 Says:
Everyone in the media wants to blame the split for the bad ratings. Did you ever stop to think it just might be your horrible coverage of golf. It’s at the point where it is almost unwatchable. It’s one big advertisement occasionally interrupted by a golf shot when the announcers are not babbling about some useless stat or talking to the chairman of who the hell cares. The only thing they don’t show a lot of is golf. Just a thought.
@kainzowgroup-seniordigital3763 Says:
Talking about ratings get's us in trouble? mmmm are we in China? lol
@rgk99 Says:
16:57 other than than golf junkies and people that want to watch the masters, I don’t believe there’s any one player that a casual fan of golf will tune in to watch as long as tiger isn’t in contention. I don’t even think Rory is enough for some people to tune in. The PGA has an issue with lack of star or superstar players. A lot of the big names that people did know are in liv so unless they figure out a way that those players can come back I think the ratings are going to continue to decline. I’m old enough to remember PGA on TV before Tiger and it was not exciting.
@Jackielikeskillersmiles Says:
Do they consider more people are watching the broadcast from the Masters app!? Or are this numbers included already!!! Bc most people aren’t watching cbs with their cable provider and most don’t have antenna for the free broadcast?!
@Seektruth-59 Says:
So it’s censored not being able to talk about something
@tomfairbrother151 Says:
It's all well and good saying Nelly Korda needs to show more personality and do more media, but NBC and Golf Channel need to step up too. Continually prioritising the Champions Tour and Korn Ferry Tour over the LPGA is not giving the women the platform they need to showcase the game
@wreckim Says:
It's the bizzaro world, of trying to resist hundreds of millions given to you, for a more mediocre and lower-standard way of life. Who can say no to that?? Work 3 days instead of 4, shoot 80 instead of 70, and still collect a million or more; win a tournament and collect 3X the pga tour average. It's crazy. Wear shorts, listen to music, ride bicycles etc.. I'm sure Scottie would get $800M right now, and he too could show up to the Masters in a couple of years, and be a former #1 that barely breaks 80, and misses the cut--just like Dustin Johnson.
@jimmyculp8756 Says:
When did Rex become such a stiff ass?
@YanoPratt Says:
The sport is in trouble - LIV players, and Norman especially, think they’re bigger than the game and that fans will follow them wherever they go. Not true. Professional Golf needs the combination of the best players and personalities competing together with regularity, great events and courses, history and tradition in order to thrive and survive. And the constant talk about the gaudy money is supremely off-putting.
@SiLoMixMaster Says:
The reason for the drop in viewers is because of death. The average age of PGAT viewers in 2016 was 64, the average life expectancy of men in the USA is 76, obesity is growing year on year and sitting watching golf on TV isn't exactly burning many calories, so they are probably just dying off. Case closed.
@jpmel1 Says:
Why would you NOT supposed to talk about ratings on this podcast, I hate when I hear shit like that!. ALL issues need to be discussed.
@edwardcreighton2638 Says:
Love Harbor Town, thinkers course, not bombers. Golf minority sport, needs reunification. Great podcast per usual.
@SiLoMixMaster Says:
The Financial Times is very highly regarded in the UK, you merely trying to spin it off as nonsense is laziness. Rory has been flip-flopping and lying through his teeth for 2 years regarding LIV, so why wouldn't he flip-flop again now? Greg Norman was at The Masters waiting on Rory at the practise range ffs, there is no smoke without fire as the saying goes.....If Scheffler is smart he and his team will be leveraging for a bigger LIV offer now as well behind the scenes.
@jimiverson3085 Says:
Is McIlroy still the #1 star? With his play the last few years, I think he is down the list at least a bit. Scheffler is clearly #1 now, but I think several other guys are ahead of McIlroy.
On Scheffler's schedule, his child is due late this month. Wouldn't be surprised if his next tournament after Harbor Town is the PGA, so his decision to skip a signature event will be Charlotte.
@JeremiahAlphonsus Says:
Rex, your slander about Cameron Young’s personality was unwarranted. He has no less personality than most pro golfers, and far more than Dustin Johnson, for example, who has the personality of a cardboard box. Perhaps what you’re detecting is that Cameron rightly despises the fakestream media, of which you’re a part.
@lvond555 Says:
Ratings are 100 percent Tiger. Nobody watches except hard core golfers unless Tiger is playing.
@IOSALive Says:
Golf Channel, Your videos always make me happy, so I subscribed!
@stryderja9570 Says:
Why aren't you allowed to talk about ratings?
@khemheru1439 Says:
rory is not worth 850 Million.. LIV is better off without him. His best days are behind him. Turning down 850 million also illustrates his low IQ level. Esp after Monohan hung him out to dry. Total hack.
