It will drive people away from the game, which is what the elitist pricks at the USGa and R&A really want! They’re simply trying to exert control! Can’t stand em!
@charlesbond4413 Says:
Golf is in crisis, let’s add to the mess. Low firm fairways for longer rolls use or lose more water than longer grass fairways that also slow roll. Limit drivers to 10 degrees, or even 9 instead of the low clubs long hitters prefer. For me, it was a few legacy people wanting to leave their mark before leaving onto other projects. I respect TaylorMade, but they are trying to make sense of messes created by others. The reasoning of the USGA and R&A does not withstand scrutiny. It was a solution in search of a problem and eventually, running out of time, they just blamed everything. It makes no sense strategically, and just having people move tees is not an answer. In a perfect world, everyone including majors, tours, clubs, leagues, pros, college, high schools, et al will just ignore and support the ball they like. A big risk for manufacturers is trying to change a ball and not making it clear it’s the new ball. Tweaking the existing ball in secret will be very bad news for those companies. We had a rule, some athletes used swing dynamics, launch monitors, specific gym and conditioning, spent hours honing their skill and now, let’s penalize everyone because of their effort and association with mostly driver manufacturers. Changing the ball does not address any known issue with 99.9% of golfers. I do not feel a game I love is better, being protected, or that they even give a damn. It’s more about their legacy, the big one. By the way, on a good day, with a tailwind, I’ll get 200 yards. So all this fuss is beyond my pay grade. It’s just, with LIV, PGA tour, masters, DP, etc, last thing we needed was a pig pile in golf. Only good thing is it gives YouTube channels and podcasters something to talk about. We are learning to love the cash coming in from this manufactured “controversy “.
@begoodbehappy1158 Says:
Why don’t all the ball manufacturers just tell the usga to pound sand and not produce a roll backed ball at all.
@prestonbacchus4204 Says:
It's really a roll back for the pros so that our ball and equipment technology does not make our great courses obsolete.
@charlesbond4413 Says:
They had the option to just freeze it at 120 head speed. The issue is USGA and R&A totally missed the real issue. Elite players get very little penalty. Low and mid handicappers will be majorly affected. Sure, move up tees, change your game completely because a tiny percentage of elite, physically trained, scientifically enhanced swing dynamically focused, with tuned and performance matched equipment, that play Pro golf just got used to screw all the rest of the golfers. I do say, so what, but it detracts from the USGAs credibility. It was a silly answer to a self created question. They live in their world and the rest of the golfers are not invited. I do agree that by 2035, it won’t matter to anyone. I listened to Martin Slumbers and Mike Whan and I still think they see the world through a lens that does not include anyone else. It’s not my battle, but I’d not be unhappy if the tours, courses, leagues said screw it, we are not changing. Let USGA and R&A have their couple of diminished ball tournaments each year and the rest of us will just play fun golf, including the pros and other sponsored tournaments. Otherwise, I have no opinion.
@LegolasFan69 Says:
Equipment customization are different than rule conformities… Rory is full of it and loves to be a little hypocritical Napoleon on every issue
@cleveland2022 Says:
Thank you for pushing back on these clowns at the USGA Taylor Made CEO. Tiger Woods in 2001 drove the ball 330 yards on 18 at Augusta in the Final Round. That was 23 years ago. The USGA is a bunch of maroons
@travissmith3390 Says:
Wish Rich would stop debating his guests we know his position which seems to be a line he has to say at this point. If he wants to play the red tees then go ahead. I would prefer to stay at my tee box and more importantly enjoy my current ball. This isn’t saving golf courses.
@jaymorin7131 Says:
The disconnect is with golfers and manufacturers not understanding that the Rules of Golf need to be updated over time. This ODS change has been 20 years in the making. If you don't agree, give up golf and take up bowling.
@marybetheby5184 Says:
I will not comply.Any mfg. going out of their way to make the current ball past this nonsense will get my money.
@xchiro1818 Says:
Other than bowling, I think golf is the only sport without a standardized ball. Make the pros use a Tour Balata, and maximize the driver displacement at 300cc. (The Titleist 975D was 260cc) Problem solved.
@NicholasDeCola Says:
I want tobe a bullshit artist likt this guy wow bro 💰💰💰🤣🤣
@jaymorin7131 Says:
“We went to manufacturers and said look, we want to have a standard club and a standard ball to do our testing, and we want to have it be available to anybody that wants to mimic the ball testing being done by the USGA,” said John Spitzer, the USGA’s managing director of equipment standards. “We asked the manufacturers if they would be willing to provide clubs and no one wanted to provide clubs for us, so we went to Fusheng (a Chinese company that is the largest golf clubhead manufacturer in the world).”
@ArttillaZ Says:
Rory the karen !!! Just roll back for pros !!! U have the card u roll back your ball ... why force us normal golfer roll back too !!!! Fluck off karen... just retire from talking and swing better !!! Entertain us... stop talking karen
@Bech285 Says:
I hate when people say play the forward tees. Playing the forward tees doesn't make it easier. I'm a 8.1 HCP golfer. If I go to the forward tees I lose 5 shots and just because the course is a little shorter, doesn't mean I birdie every second hole. This rollback either won't take effect or won't last long. The community is against it. Its only a few pro golfers, USGA and R&A who's for it.
@jakemiller1814 Says:
What a stupid ass rule. Anyone like myself, who swings it fast and hits it a long way, is getting royally screwed.
@coobay4786 Says:
I see at the amateur level a high number of players will simply start buying illegal balls. There will be a huge market for them and were theres a demand there will be a supplier. Don't kid yourself that this is not going to happen.
@paulengel5413 Says:
Shorter tee height will drop driver distance and not limit the rest of the bag. It's the cheapest solve that impacts everyone the least.
@davidstorck9368 Says:
Make the roll back for the pros not the amateurs. Just like in MLB, the pros use wooden bats, but all amateurs can use aluminum bats. Let amateurs continue to take advantage of golf ball technology.
@211squirrel Says:
The idea of environmental stewardship for “less water” being an argument for rolling the golf ball back is DISHONEST. The USGA CEO is either lying about amateurs “not really noticing” the roll back, or he’s lying about water being the issue. They can’t BOTH be true; the first inherently cancels out the other one. I’m tired of this BS, this is a stupid decision, aimed at a perceived problem that only affects venues for professional golf tournaments. PERIOD. This isn’t a problem to begin with; professionals play against each other, not against the course. And if you do actually consider this a problem, it’s a problem much easier solved by course set up, or venue selection. It has nothing to do with water.
@landiscourington4514 Says:
I play in a Seniors group that fields 80+ players on a regular basis and many of us are 80+ in age, we are not overpowering the golf course. Leave the amateur players alone- we are not overpowering the golf course. Our handicaps will go up and golf will be less fun!!
@landiscourington4514 Says:
This move will penalize the amateur golfer and the growth golf has been seeing will start to falter!
@richardlupton3676 Says:
limit tee length for pro's if that doesn't work limit driver length for pro's it's so simple it's scary but please leave the ball for amateurs alone
@1976axerhand Says:
It was the easiest way out.. too soon
@Labgorilla Says:
It has to be said. The golf ball rollback is a moronic decision. It has no foundation in the grassroots of the game. This will impact hcps , for the worse, and therefore enjoyment of the game. Tiger is the one who has this correct. Bifurcation is the only way IF you must do this change. Which I insist should not be the case. Amateurs do not need the ball to fly any shorter.
@flipbuck0222 Says:
If anyone wanted exercises in sniffing out BS, listening to TaylorMade's CEO responses was one of them. - admitted golf PGA pros play different equipment than the market eg. "variations in the same equipment" - spiked interest in golf due to COVID pandemic NOT golf ball technology - all about the bottom line for TaylorMade not in the interest of the everyday golfer
@R_J_G Says:
This guy is not totally honest. I’ve played with professional players where we had the same model driver and it was no where near the same.
@EngineerCatPyro Says:
Of course the manufactures of balls are going to push back, and frankly they are going to push back with any form of limiting distance because if it doesn't effect their manufacturing of balls, it's going to effect their manufacturing of clubs. Either roll back the balls, or remove drivers completely from the game and the longest club they can carry is a 7 wood. How else are they going to limit distance so we don't end up with 10,000 yard courses?????
@brooktully426 Says:
The simple truth is that 99.9% of golfers and the health of golf growing forward should have made the decision EASY EASY- BIFURCATION!!!!! Don't hurt the growth of the game for newbies and older golfers and basically all golfers that pay for the sport- keep the game easier and balls and clubs longer and technologically advanced. The best players can be limited- fine- but EVERY OTHER GOLFER DOESN'T WANT THIS!!!
@weigelji1 Says:
The ball length simply doesn’t impact the average golfer. I play twice a week and none of the guys I play with are worried that the courses are becoming too short because the balls or clubs are better than they used to be. Changing this single issue goes against all that we hold sacred regarding moving ahead and striving to excel. It is, in a word, unAmerican.
@theskimaskboy Says:
Prior to a tournament, the grounds crew should grow out the landing zones of each fairway. So there would be a rough strip about 75 yards long and the width of the fairway so the players can go over it or short.
@theskimaskboy Says:
Golf and gasoline will be illegal by 2035
@theskimaskboy Says:
Just stop making golf balls in 2030. Stop making gasoline cars. Just stop the world from turning....
@ewmagency Says:
People will freak about about it for a few months and then realize that the playing field is still level and they'll get over it
@theskimaskboy Says:
5:30 ohhhhhh the truth comes out about tour issue clubs. The pros get the good shit....for free!! And the rec players pay for it
@theskimaskboy Says:
I think Rory and tiger got golf by the balls. Pun
@theskimaskboy Says:
4:30 I don't agree. The players get the good shit
@theskimaskboy Says:
Companies have run out of ideas and are on board with usga roll back. Gives the R&D something to work on for a few years
@getdat Says:
No Rich Lerner. Covid brought more non golfers into the game, but it's the primary component which is keeping those people in the game longer because of technology. The improvements in the drivers and golf ball makes it easier for beginners to hit the golfball much easier than before. Golf courses can grow the rough, makes the greens firmer and faster as well narrowing the fairways to make it more difficult while maintaining environmental issues for more sustainable platform. Playing forward tees ? Really? To do that you need to change human nature. There a lot more creative ways to accomplish this than the ball roll back. This is the lazy approach.
@theskimaskboy Says:
Face thickness=ball speed and spin. Make the driver faces thicker and the head smaller.
@IIrandhandleII Says:
A golf course is the great outdoors lololol
@davejohn255 Says:
As a senior I need balls that go 50 yards further...I always play in the morning and it is always wet and slow.
@bunkerputt Says:
There is no stronger limit than that of aerodynamics and the biomechanics of the human body. The ruling class of golf is doing this for no other reason than that they are drunk on wielding power. In their foolish minds, THEY are the ones that set limits, not God.
@MikeBodo Says:
If Taylor Made continues producing a version of the TP5 in its current form post-rollback, I'll be buying it and supporting them with my hard-earned $$$. Kudos to their CEO for the strong stance taken on this.
@hosoiarchives4858 Says:
Golf can’t ruin itself fast enough
@teressaabbott855 Says:
As far as tiger and Rory are concerned, the biggest hitters in the world will still be the biggest hitters in the world. So that's a wash we get screwed
@teressaabbott855 Says:
Somebody will produce a golf ball just like the one that I am using right now. And I will purchase it and go play golf
@mack-uv6gn Says:
In a nutshell this will cost me money.😂
@mack-uv6gn Says:
It’s not at bad as I thought, the rollback that is.
@piffpete420 Says:
Says the CEO of a corporation that benefits from the excessive change in performance from his companies equipment. Damage be damned to the professional game of golf. Anyone who is against the roll back is out of touch with the history of what happened. The governing bodies allowed the manufacturers to dictate the game decades ago and greed got us to this point. The rollback is a very good first step, the next is woods and drivers. Being laughably forgiving, not penalizing miss hits and trampoline effect. Mainly the size of the driver is ridiculous, it should be no larger than a modern 3 wood. Why should golf courses and communities have to carry the burden of the excesses of club manufacturers in there endless chase to distance. Tennis doesn’t change there courts, nor basketball or football change the fields. Because the equipment hasn’t drastically altered the game.
