Unfortunately, the concept is quite flawed, here's why:
- Considering that Ceccon had won in two styles, the race should have been between three athletes only. It was a mistake to give a chance to Apostolos Christou, who hadn't won a single event in the whole series.
- The format awards the athlete who got a place in the Golden Race through the worst performance and so might have a better chance to improve, especially if less tired than his opponents.
