But perhaps the most glaring problem is the abysmal promotion of the sport. Rugby unions and leagues seem to be controlled with an iron grip, limiting access to quality footage and effectively shutting out casual fans. This leaves only the hardcore supporters engaged, and it’s no surprise that the sport’s global appeal continues to suffer because of these failings.
