The guy made some bad career moves, but is a stellar driver. Other than that, as far as the racing goes Ricciardo has generally just made up the numbers. He did get a lucky win with McLaren, but even they paid him NOT to drive for them in their final season together! And remember his time in a still very competitive Red Bull ended because he ran scared of Verstappen. Nobody pushed him, he didn't want to be compared to Max so he jumped. Ricciardo has a lovely smile which will continue to make him wealthy. People who watch Netflix tell me he has a great personality, but a competitive F1 racer he's not, and hasn't been for a long time. I watch Formula 1 for the racing, he adds nothing to it and we should not be sad if he loses his drive. There are plenty more exciting drivers currently on the grid with many competitive cars, F1 is enjoying a purple patch.
