The proud of Arroyos de Mantua, in Pinar del Río, Cuba. I remember the first time I saw this guy playing baseball. That was in the baseball stadium of my municipality of Guane, in Pinar del Río, Cuba. He was 15 years old, and he was playing the second base for Mantua’s team. All the people in the stadium saw his ability with the bat and the glove. Faustino Corrales, one of the most famous left handed pitchers of all times in the cuban baseball was in the stands and he told my dad, “The second baseman is going to be a superstar”. After a few years, Randy debuted with Vegueros of Pinar del Río, then after that he escaped from Cuba on a boat looking for his dream to play one day in the MLB.
