Instead, have a giant screen behind them showing the final moments of the race, show them as giants, show them respect, treat them as hero's of the future generations. (My son felt embarrassed for the winners and would run away from this) Yes it may seem as a bit of fun but these swimmers are the world championships, and not just at the same level as a kids birthday party.
