Why are track limits so important as to call races based on a technical rule about where the car is on the track? What problem is being solved by creating so many more problems? Is it that the Nanny FIA wants the cars to slow down? That would make the races even more boring and frustrating. Right now the race is more about tire management than going as fast as the cars can go. And gosh, I LIVE for tire management as I suppose ALLLLLL fans are. F1 is getting rather boring.

How did u come to the decision that it's difficult to manage track limits? Every single F1 car has ultra-precise GPS on board that gives easily seen to them in data acquisition telemetry

How about if the grease the second section of the curbs and leave the runoff area alone? That would discourage driving out of bounds but still stop the cars after they spin out of control.

The whole weekend was a complete shambles. I thought the days of changing the finishing order of the race went out years ago. If they think one practice session is all that's needed perhaps they should do that at every meeting then surely that would cut costs, of course it could be just to squeeze in the gimicky sprint "race" and more practice is beneficial. There should be gravel around every track maybe they would stay on it, difficult at Monaco but that should have been scrapped years ago, There is no place for sprint races in F1. Rallycross provides plenty excitement in a very short race.

My solution is to revamp the tracks and increase the banking angle for the last two turns since they are the ones causing the most track-limits penalties problem. This can enable a better grip through the last few corners and less headache for the drivers, teams, stewards, FIA, and sponsors.

Just put grass or gravel at the edge of the track. The drivers will respect it or else they end up spinning.

You shouldnt have to police track limits. If the vehicle loses tracktion off line, even enough to lose 0.1 or 0.2s by going off they won't do it.

Than move the white line on to the curbs for car racing. Move it there where the drivers get in trouble when they go over. Or move it so far that it is just slower to go outside the lines. I don't care how far they move it. As long as the rules are the same for everyone it is fine.

The problem with the white line is that corner's natural line means using all of the curb on entry and exit. Now that they cant use the curb on entry they have a bad angle and are going wide on the exit. Also having drivers having to focus on a white line instead of getting their eye focused down the circuit isnt good racing. If they insist on keeping the white line rule the curb needs to be replaced with narrower ones and a strip of grass or gravel between the curb and the runoff. It just looked silly and amateurist.

That was a clown's show. 1200 track limit violations means there was an over zealous rule in place enforced by people who know F all about racing. Only 8 drivers penalized also means there was inconsistent rules imposed, 8 drivers couldn't have violated the rules 150 times each. Penalties handed out 5 hours after the race has finished is also pathetic. F1 has not just turned into a 🤡show, but it has also turned into a 🤡 💩show, very boring and very corrupt. Quite clear all teams who were penalised can collect video evidence and make an appeal of all the other drivers who went off track and didn't get anything. Do the math with 1200 track violations it means ALL of them.

It's not the limit themselves, but the long delay between evaluation and notification. Finding out only after the race is completed is unacceptable. It should be instantaneous so the driver can correct in a timely manner.

For all of the red bull dominance the teams behind them really did drop the ball today, Why Aston killed Strolls race pitting Alonso when he was on Hards. Then not releasing Sainz to attack and screwing him on the double stack. Your defense of this garbage is hilarious. Track limits are as artificial as DRS. Quit saying "well that is the track, so that's the track and they all know it" as a way to justify ridiculous 5 second penalties - for a driver going a millimeter over it (3 times/7 times etc etc etc). . But it's obviously not the track, it's a completely arbitrary white line, one that has no innate value... Yet (somehow) you seem to think that applying some silly significance to it, then adding electronic loops under them, reverses that in some way 🤣. Oh yeah an just so we can use it to tell grown ass men that they are naughty.

No. When you have 1200 or so occurances of an issue in one race, it illustrates the rule or tech is bad.. Obviously the drivers can't see the line clearly - so time for a change and let drivers simply drive...

Classic F1 fans bitching and moaning about every single thing. I'm glad they're actually policing track limits, it's such a simple rule. Stay with at least one wheel within the white line. Just wish we could get the same stewarding consistency from race to race. Anyways, very fun race even with Max taking the piss at the top. I do think the sprint weekend kind of worked in Ferrari's favor, car seems easier to setup now while Mercedes really needs those 3 FP sessions to really get it into a good window. No idea what happened to the Astons today, they were no where near the podium. Just bad strategy, lack of pace? In any case, Silverstone should be very telling of the current downforce potential of the teams. Lots of high speed corners with nice straights.

I don't understand the arguments for having gravel or sausage kerbs on the exits of corners.... Why? Because then drivers will respect the track limits? It massively increases the chance of a crash if someone genuinely goes off which puts marshals, competitors and potentially spectators at risk. If the idea is to create a situation where if you go off, you'll be out of the race, why not just say "ok then - go off and you're black flagged." Same effect in the end but there's no massive repair bill for the teams, there's no added risk to anyone, there's no need for track changes that cause problems for other series.... This problem is caused by the fact that drivers leave no room for error. They all aim to be 1mm inside the white line and hope nothing goes wrong (like the car stepping out or a gust of wind). If there was gravel around the exit, they'd leave a bigger margin for error because they wouldn't be able to get away with going wide so set the rules in a way that leads to the same mindset. 3 strikes and you're out of the race. If those rules were in place today, not a single driver would have gone wide more than twice.
